If you want to get out and about then the Highlands packs a lot of bang for your buck.

One of Her Majesties Millennium Cities, Inverness is a grown up 21st century city with a long and interesting history.  The castle is a working court house that overlooks the river Ness where you will often find salmon fishermen pitting their wits against one of natures finest.  There can’t be many city centers where it’s possible to see otters hunting and playing in the river.  Of course there are many shops, cinemas, leisure and sports centers, churches, the Eden Court Theatre and more.

Draw a line due west and there is nothing but wilderness between RiverView Cottage and the Atlantic Ocean.  So the air is fresh and clean, the trees hang heavy with lichen, and the opportunities for adventure are the best you’ll find in the UK.

Access to the many islands is easy for a day trip or longer.  A beautiful hour and half drive away, the Isle of Skye is now accessible via it’s iconic toll free bridge.
